Lance and Naomi, From Prague to North Carolina to Alaska
![[Prague]](prague.gif)
This
is my Reenlistment I did in 1994(left). Naomi and I had been dating
almost a year now. We met at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball in Nov of 93.
Shortly after this picture was taken, we became engaged and I returned
to the states.
This
is the day we had been waiting for(right). I had been on a 6 month
deployment with my unit. During that time, Naomi had been at her home in
Leeds, England. I returned from deployment in June 95, and flew to England
a month later. On July 26th we were married in her home town of Leeds.
We went on a short honeymoon in London and the Northern English countryside. As I had to get back to work with the Marines. We both flew back to Jacksonville, North Carolina in August of 95. I wasn't home a month before going on another short deployment. Naomi got to experience being a Marine wife first hand by being on her own for 35 days. During which, she had to endure the moving company losing her personal goods shipment from England. Well everything eventually worked out, and she got her stuff.
In
the latter months of 95, we decided that renting was too expensive, so
we bought our first home(left). The best part, was we only had to
move a block. We did a lot of work on the inside. The previous owners had
children, whom thought the walls were their own personal drawing board.
We finally got if fixed up the way we wanted by May of 96, only to have
hurricanes Fran and Bertha hit us. We sustained a fair amount of damage
to the backside and roof. Thanks to my dad we got all repairs finished
and up to code.
1996
was a very busy year for us indeed. With the hurricanes visiting us, and
doing repairs, I still had to work. In between all that, we found a little
time for me to go back to Arizona for my 10 year High School Reunion in
Flagstaff. We really had a good time visiting with my friend Scott and
his family. It was also nice to see everyone I went to school with, even
if they didn't recognize me. Of course, I had more hair back in 1986. While
there, Naomi and I took a day to go to the Grand Canyon(right).
Like all good things, they eventually come to an end. I still had work
to do. My unit was again getting ready to deploy. This time we were going
on a Six month cruise courtesy of the Navy/Marine Corps team to the Mediterranean
Sea. On the day before Thanksgiving(below), I set sail on the USS
Nassau for a enjoyable(not)six months at sea.
Unbelievably those six months went by pretty fast, and I returned home
in June of 97. After returning home, I was assigned as an Instructor at
the School of Infantry Camp Geiger. The job was a challenge but I had a
great time doing it. I got out in December of 98 to pursue a new life in
Alaska and a career in Law Enforcement. We currently reside in Anchorage where I work for the Dept of Army. We have a four year old son named Zachary who loves to go camping and will hopefully learn to fish this year. We lost out beloved lab Caz this past November, 2007 to a brain tumor. He had been with us for 12 years and had a great life. He will be greatly missed.
Thanks for stopping by
